Galata Antique Hotel sits in the heart of Galata, one of the oldest trade centers in Europe, and is conveniently situated in Beyoglu, a crossroads of culture.
A.Vallaury, a famous 19th century architect, who has also built Pera Palace and Istanbul Archeological Museum, builted "Galata Antique" as a mansion for a French businessman in 1881.
The building is renovated by preserving the original architecture in 2001. The hand engravings have been created by the arts faculty staff of Mimar Sinan University.
In 1977 Yesil Ev (an old Ottoman mansion) was up for sale and was taken under control by the Turkish Touring and Automobile Association. The old wooden building was so far beyond repair that, with the consent of the Commission for Ancient Monuments, it was demolished and rebuilt. The nineteen rooms and layout were carefully preserved and the exterior remade as an exact replica.
The furnishings have been created in the style of a 19th century winter mansion. The building has an absolutely unrivaled location between Hagia Sophia and the Blue Mosque, and at the same time offers visitors the warm, friendly atmosphere of an old Istanbul home.
After the opening of this unique building in March 1984 as the Yesil Ev, it very quickly attained a world-wide reputation and was awarded in 1985 the medal for the year by “Europa Nostra”. Yesil Ev had, indeed, introduced the concept of true comfort and hygiene to this “derelict” district and opened a new epoch in Turkish tourism by combining modern standards with historical style.

ISTANBUL. – After a six-year renovation, the St. Gregory the Illuminator Armenian Church, which is located in Istanbul’s Shishli district, reopened and celebrated its first mass on Sunday.
This tower designed by award-winning firm FXFOWLE, the tallest on the Anatolian side of Istanbul, makes a memorable presence for the headquarters of a dynamic construction and development company. Occupying an "edge-city" context at the intersection of two major highways, the tower is completely freestanding and seen in the round. Functioning like an obelisk, it marks the end of long vistas and announces the entrance to the city from the east. This tower marries sculptural massing rooted in locale, a solar responsive skin with allusions to Islamic tradition, and the incorporation of green spaces throughout. Rooted in the particular spirit of Istanbul, it offers an antidote to the universal application of conventions that has regrettably become the norm for many international practices.

Ýstanbul receives 16 percent more tourists in first 11 months
The number of tourists visiting Ýstanbul from January through November of 2011 has increased by 16 percent compared to the same period one year ago, according to official figures.
Ýstanbul Provincial Culture and Tourism Directorate figures for 2011 reveal that Ýstanbul attracted 7,509,000 foreigner tourists from January through November. This number was 6,489,000 in the first 11 months of 2010.
